Marking guide B for qualitative assessments

Important

The marking scheme below, based on the university’s Marking Guide B, provides criteria that you should use when assessing the BM432 workshop figures.

Class Type B Mark Descriptor
UG: First 92, 100 Exceptional: Exceptional in most respects or every respect. Could not be bettered.
84 Outstanding: Outstanding in most respects. Outstanding standard of synthesis and evaluation. Complexity of creativity, insight, and/or originality. Outstanding standard of communication and/or presentation.
72, 75, 78 Excellent: Excellent in most respects. Excellent standard of synthesis and evaluation. Insightful and original. Excellent standard of communication and presentation.
UG: Upper second 62, 65, 68 Comprehensive: Very good or good in most respects. Only occasional lapses in detail. Very good or good synthesis. Good standard of communication and/or presentation.
UG: Lower second 52, 55, 58 Satisfactory: Weaknesses in material with occasional lapses in detail. Satisfactory standard of communication and/or presentation. Weaknesses in clarity and/or structure.
UG: Third 42, 45, 48 Limited: Lacks clarity and/or not logically structured. Poor organisation and/or presentation.
UG: Fail 32, 35, 38 Inadequate: Poorly structured or incoherent. Awkward or poor expression of concepts.
20 Weak: Irrelevant content and/or extensive omissions. Weak presentation and/or logic.
10 Minimal: Incomplete, muddled, and/or irrelevant. Weaknesses of presentation and/or logic.
